Pereira da Cunha generated turnover of around six million euros last year and, according to company CEO Tiago Pereira da Cunha, 2026 is progressing in line with the same period of the previous year. «So far, things are going well, more or less the same as last year. Which is good, because this year is difficult and a little more unstable», he tells Portugal Têxtil.
Asked about the possibility of repeating the 15% growth recorded in 2024 and 2025, the CEO remains cautious. «For now, we are very close to the previous year. If this year were the same, that would already be good, because we also do not have the space or capacity to grow much more», he explains.
On the industrial side, Pereira da Cunha invested in two new looms between last year and this year. «We are modernising. When a machine is more than 15 to 20 years old, we replace it with a new one. We try to invest; there always has to be some margin for investment, even in the middle of a crisis, because that is the future of the company», says Tiago Pereira da Cunha. The new equipment increases production capacity by almost 50% compared with the previous machines.
In terms of collections, the current focus is on softer colours, but the home textiles company continues to centre its offering on products aligned with sustainability, namely 100% cotton articles, and on its existing certifications, such as GOTS and Oeko-Tex. However, «we always try to anticipate what customers ask for. Sometimes it only takes one or two customers to request a certification, and for that customer to be ahead of all the others, for us to immediately seek it, because if we do not have it, they will not buy from us; they will buy elsewhere», explains Tiago Pereira da Cunha.

The sleeping bag is the company’s best-selling product, alongside the padded bedspread, which «was very much in fashion last year», while rugs also continue to be well received.
Although the company is not yet experiencing supply constraints, it acknowledges that this could change if the situation in the Middle East persists. «When there is a shortage of a raw material, we immediately must raise prices. And there is also the concern of needing cotton and having to wait one or two months for it», the CEO says.
Exports account for around 95% of turnover. The US is the company’s largest individual market, absorbing around 30% of shipments, while European markets represent approximately 40% of overseas sales. The company also exports to several Latin American countries, including Chile, Costa Rica and Colombia, while Asia remains its least significant market.
In terms of international promotion, Pereira da Cunha took part this year in Heimtextil in Frankfurt, Market Week in New York and Guimarães Home Fashion Week. «In principle, we will return to these trade fairs in 2027», concludes Tiago Pereira da Cunha.
