ROQ moves forward with restructuring

The group, known for developing and manufacturing solutions for garment printing, has announced that it will move forward with a restructuring plan to adapt its organisation to market conditions and strengthen its international competitiveness.

In a statement, the Vila Nova de Famalicão-based company explains that the decline in orders recorded in recent months, combined with changes in the economic environment, has made it necessary to reorganise its structure, to concentrate resources on strategic business areas and increase investment in innovation, technological development and operational efficiency.

According to ROQ, the reorganisation will enable the company to preserve its responsiveness, maintain high quality standards and continue developing value-added solutions for customers and partners in international markets.

The process involves the termination of employment contracts through the collective redundancy of 11% of the workforce, a decision that has already been communicated to the employees affected, the company states, adding that the entire process will be conducted «in full compliance with legal obligations and with the commitment to transparency that has always characterised the ROQ Group».

«This was one of the most difficult decisions in the company’s history», says Romeu Ribeiro, CEO of the group. «However, we believe it is essential to ensure the sustainability of the ROQ Group and preserve its ability to continue innovating and serving our customers over the coming decades», he maintains.

Despite the reduction in the number of employees, which will fall to around 400 following the process, the company says it will maintain operations in all the markets where it is present.

The group – which comprises ROQ, dedicated to the development and manufacture of textile printing and packaging solutions, and ROQ Laser, specialising in laser cutting services, precision metalworking and industrial automation solutions – also stresses that it is maintaining its commitments to customers, partners and suppliers, ensuring the continuity of ongoing projects and the responsiveness underpinning its international operations. In addition to its headquarters in Portugal and subsidiaries in the US and Brazil, it exports to more than 80 countries.

In the statement, ROQ also acknowledges the human impact of the measure and thanks «all the employees who, over the years, have contributed to its history and growth for their professionalism and dedication».
