According to Recover, the platform brings together a range of «structures, blends and technical capabilities, covering applications ranging from denim and workwear to jersey, fleece and refined fabrics», produced using the Spanish company’s recycled cotton fibre.
With this launch, Recover now offers an integrated ecosystem covering fibre, yarn, textiles and basic garments, ensuring traceability at every stage of the supply chain.
«By transforming our fibre into ready-to-use yarns, we are making it easier for brands and manufacturers to move from ambition to implementation of their sustainability strategy», says Anders Sjöblom, CEO of Recover.
«Recover yarns address the need for adaptable product solutions that enable recycled cotton to be integrated at scale», adds Enes Adak, the company’s product director.
According to the Spanish company, the new portfolio simplifies the sourcing and development of recycled cotton yarns, allowing partners to use a fibre supported by traceability, transparency, life-cycle assessment and proven environmental performance.
Recover adds that the platform is the result of developments carried out in collaboration with more than 150 spinning partners, offering a range of yarns and collections that evolves in line with market needs, new blends and emerging technologies.
At this stage, there are no Portuguese partners integrated into the platform, but Recover highlights its previous collaborations with Inovafil and TMG under the Recover Fabrics project, which remains active. Polopiqué, which established a partnership with Recover in 2021 to scale recycled cotton fibre, is also not currently part of the platform. «Polopiqué was an important partner during Recover’s growth journey», Matthew Neville, Recover’s commercial director, tells Portugal Têxtil, adding that the company’s ecosystem has evolved to include a broader global network of partners.
Markets and demand
The platform is already generating interest from brands and retailers, with the company actively working with partners to bring the solutions to market. «Although specific commercial relationships are often developed in collaboration with our supply chain partners, we are seeing clear momentum as customers look for ready-to-use, scalable solutions», explains Matthew Neville.
Regarding the role of yarns in the company’s overall business, the commercial director takes a cautious view. «Although fibres remain the foundation of our business, we expect yarns to play an increasingly important role in driving expansion, simplifying implementation and extending our reach across the value chain. Over the coming years, they will contribute both to volume growth and commercial impact, supporting our broader goal of making circular materials more accessible and widely adopted across the industry», he says.
As for the markets with the strongest demand, Matthew Neville identifies South and Southeast Asia, where a large share of global spinning capacity is concentrated. Europe is also emerging as a growing market, driven by brands and retailers with sustainability targets. China and Indonesia are highlighted as priority markets, «where supply chain limitations or import restrictions can limit access to fibres». These regions represent opportunities for Recover Yarns to expand its «reach and support large-scale local production, particularly in China, which is a strategic market for us», says the commercial director.
On the production side, the company has been strengthening its fibre manufacturing capacity, including through the expansion of its Central American operations with Recover Central America in El Salvador. «We continue to assess market needs to ensure that our production capabilities evolve in line with demand, while maintaining consistent quality and supply globally», concludes Matthew Neville.
